DooGhoont Beta Launches in Lahore with First 12 Water Plants

Today marks a major milestone for DooGhoont. We have officially launched our private beta in Lahore, partnering with 12 of the city's leading water refill plants to digitize their entire logistics and inventory pipeline.

Lahore is a city that runs on water delivery. With a population exceeding 20 million, municipal water lines are chronically insufficient. Private water refill plants, reverse osmosis (RO) centers, and distribution networks fill this massive gap, delivering millions of 19-liter polycarbonate bottles to households and businesses daily.

However, the mechanics of these distribution networks have remained frozen in the 1990s. Dispatchers use paper logs to track how many bottles go out with each rider. Reconciliations are done at the end of 12-hour shifts by manual math, leading to widespread cash leakage, unaccounted bottle losses, and massive administrative overhead.

Addressing the Core Leakages

In our initial research phase, we observed that the average water plant in Lahore loses between 8% to 15% of its empty bottles annually. At Rs 500 to Rs 700 per bottle, this container shrinkage represents a major operational drag. More critically, cash collection mismatch is a daily friction point. Riders collect cash, credit accounts, and exchange bottle deposits across dozens of stops, and verifying these amounts manually takes hours.

Early Beta Results:

  • 94% reduction in bottle loss variance.
  • 2-hour reconciliation reduced to under 60 seconds per rider.
  • 14% average increase in rider delivery capacity via routing.

A Network of Specialized Apps

The DooGhoont platform tackles this through three integrated layers:

  1. The Plant Manager Web Portal: Provides owners with live telemetry on orders, inventory, cash balances, and rider locations.
  2. The Rider Mobile App: A lightweight Android app that functions offline, providing route navigation, digital invoice collection, and bottle exchange verification.
  3. The Customer Subscription App: Allowing residential clients to manage refills, schedule deliveries, and track empty bottles.

What lies ahead

Over the next three months, we are focusing on expanding our footprint in Lahore's central districts (Gulshan-e-Iqbal, PECHS, Clifton, and DHA) before opening public registrations. Our goal is to onboard 50 plants by Q3, establishing a digital standard for utility logistics in emerging markets.
